Save the Children International is recruiting a Child Participation and Campaigns Apprentice to support child-led research, advocacy, and campaigns under the organization’s Catalytic Fund initiative.
The apprenticeship is designed to equip young people with practical skills while giving them an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that strengthen child participation and children’s rights in Rwanda and Burundi. Throughout the seven-month placement, selected candidates will receive mentoring, hands-on experience, and continuous professional guidance from experienced staff.

Position Overview
The Child Participation and Campaigns Apprentice will work within the Child Protection, Child Rights Governance (CRG), and Campaigns Team at the Country Office.
The apprentice will support advocacy initiatives, child-led research, campaign activities, evidence generation, and capacity-building programmes while working closely with technical teams and community stakeholders.
Contract Duration: 7 Months
Reporting To: Campaigns and Communication Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the organization by:
- Assisting peer child researchers during data collection and analysis.
- Supporting data validation and quality assurance together with the MEAL team.
- Preparing reports that inform advocacy and programme development.
- Supporting child-centred workshops and campaign activities.
- Coordinating consultations with children and young people.
- Mentoring children and youth on advocacy and participation methodologies.
- Documenting lessons learned and best practices.
- Supporting dissemination of child-led research findings.
- Preparing reports related to Catalytic Fund initiatives.
- Ensuring safeguarding principles are respected throughout project implementation.
Who Can Apply?
This apprenticeship is intended for motivated young people who meet the following requirements:
- Aged between 18 and 25 years.
- Completed secondary school within the past three years.
- Previously participated in child participation programmes supported by Save the Children, Government institutions, or other relevant partners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good cultural awareness and ability to work with diverse communities.
- Good English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of children’s rights and child participation principles.
- Commitment to accountability, integrity, collaboration, ambition, and creativity.
